Dear Adventurers, Who Share Africa With Us, Thank You

Legends,

There are many passionate Overlanders and Campers out there who share their travels in and around Southern Africa with us through their various social media channels be it, YouTube, Instagram or Facebook. We all have our favorites, and this article is not directed to any specific influencer, after all, they themselves are colleagues, friends and associates.

These guys are the heartbeat of our overlanding and camping community. Every dusty track, remote campsite, and sunrise over the savanna tells a story—and thanks to them who share their journeys on social media, those stories travel far beyond the bush. Let’s face it, many routes and campsites have been chosen by us after watching their amazing episodes on social media channels.

So, we sit in the comfort of our couches and stare at the big screen as these legends share their experiences with us which always contains amazing footage, professionally shot, and a massive amount and effort in digitally editing all the footage then stitching it all together to produce the end product.

Guys, please just imagine what a massive undertaking these episodes require. Starting from the very costly equipment required, to actually undertaking these costly trips, to ensuring the when and how the “right shot” is captured – the production process must be detailed and immense – getting in and out of the vehicles 100 times a trip to set up the shots, flying drones, getting the angles and lighting and backdrops just right. These must be stop, go and stop, go journeys for them which must be tiring and then, back at the campsites, the dumping of all this onto storage drives begins. This all before any editing begins back home.

Unlike us, these guys are working for us and frankly, they deserve acknowledgement, product sponsorships and healthy cashflows through their pockets. Otherwise, we would sit with the same generic documentaries on the National Geographic or Discovery channels that are unspecific to overlanding and camping in Southern Africa, miss crucial logistical data and details of the how, when and what that we really need and, directed to a different audience. Consider that they have their own personal lives to deal with and things and situations and challengers do change for them, however, their amazing productions are always just a click away and we benefit from these always, no matter what their own personal situations may be at any point in time.

So,

We want to take a moment to appreciate these adventurers who take the time to document their travels, share practical advice, and pass along hard-earned knowledge from the road. We say:

“Whether it’s tips on navigating a tricky 4×4 trail, choosing the right gear for a remote expedition, or showing us how to set up the perfect bush campsite, your content inspires and educates fellow explorers across the globe.

Through photos, videos, and honest storytelling, you bring the spirit of African adventure to life. You remind us why we venture off the tar roads in the first place—to experience wild places, connect with nature, and discover the freedom that only the open landscape can offer.

Your willingness to share both the triumphs and the challenges helps build a stronger, more knowledgeable community of campers and overlanders. Your passion keeps the spirit of exploration alive and inspires in us our next journey waiting just beyond the horizon.

So, to every African adventurer posting from the bush, the desert, the mountains, and the coast – we say Thank You
